Pre-conference Masterclass - Sunday 16th September 2018

HOTT Topics in Inhalation and Burns Management: An MDT Approach. 

The Burns and Intensive care team at Chelsea and Westminster
Hospital NHS Foundation Trust are very kindly leading this masterclass:

Mrs Elaine Manderson – Clinical Nurse Specialist Intensive Care 
Mr Ben Harold – Charge Nurse Intensive Care
Dr Linsey Christie – Consultant anaesthetics and Intensive Care
Mr Jorge Leon-Villapalos – Consultant  Burns Surgeon
Ms Catherine Mitchell – Clinical Nurse Specialist – Burns
Mrs Daisy Villareal-Maralit – Senior Staff Nurse Intensive Care

The team all work in the regional burns centre for London and were all actively
involved in the management of patients from the Grenfell fire. They will present
how to manage a severely burned  patient with an inhalation injury through the
use of simulation demonstration and small workshops that delegates will rotate

At the end of the masterclass, delegates will have:

  • Seen a simulation of the initial assessment and management of a burns ICU admission
  • Attended a workshop on:
    • Pathophysiological changes in burns and inhalation injury
    • To how assess the size and depth of a burn
    • How to manage a burn in the initial 24 hours
    • How to manage an inhalational injury
    • How to manage a circumferential burns injury
    • How to dress and care for a burn injury
    • How to manage a major incident that involves thermal injuries
